Safety Tips for an Escape Room
All of Omescape’s escape rooms are fun experiences, but there may be some parts of the game which are potential safety hazards. We place great emphasis on our unique design and automated elements, but because our games are very immersive and realistic you need to be careful to follow instructions throughout the entire experience.
Once the game has started the door is locked, and your team are inside the escape room until you escape or for an hour (whichever comes first). With this in mind you should turn up prepared and understand the rules of the game before booking your experience. CCTV is installed in each escape room to monitor safety of the participants and track progress.
We’ve put together some general safety tips for making sure you and our group have a positive and memorable experience on your visit to Omescape. If you have any questions prior to booking, just let us know.
Supervise children at all times
Escape rooms are not designed to be child safe, however we allow children under 12 to be part of a game if accompanied by a group of adults. Escape rooms can be a great family activity however it is important you supervise children at all points during the game. This is for their own safety and to ensure property and parts of the game are not damaged or broken. There may be small objects which are hazardous to children and it is the responsibility of the adults in the group to ensure a safe environment while playing the game.
Do not be under the influence of alcohol or drugs
As a live experience, you need to be fully aware of what is happening inside the escape room and behave in an appropriate manner. Alcohol and drugs affect your decision making process and may cause you to react differently to certain situations. For this reason, there is a strict no alcohol or drugs policy and if participants arrive under the influence they will be turned away without a refund. Not only will you have a safer experience without alcohol, your group are also more likely to succeed in solving the puzzles and breaking out in time.
Don’t bring food or drink
Food and drink is not allowed inside the escape rooms for safety reasons. Alcohol consumption on the premises is strictly forbidden (please see number two above) and trust us – you won’t have time for a snack while you’re playing the game!
Trust your game host and master
On arrival, your group will have a briefing about the game from your personal game master. They will give you all the information you need to complete your challenge inside the room, so pay attention! They will also outline the rules of the game and company policies you should be aware of. Listen carefully during your briefing because first and foremost, your game master is there to keep you safe. They are available throughout the live game to give hints and tips, and will watch your group via CCTV in case of emergencies. We won’t be liable to any damage caused to persons or possessions resulting from not following instructions from the game host.
Do not use physical strength
Omescape escape rooms are designed to test your intellectual strength rather than your physical strength! There is no need to use force or try and move large and heavy objects during the game, so please never use physical strength within the rooms. The puzzles and challenges are designed to be solved by the mind and many are logic based, so if you think you need to put yourself in danger by climbing or lifting something heavy you’re on the wrong track. Please note we may charge customers for any damage done to our escape room games.
Emergency exits
You may be apprehensive about entering a small room and being locked inside for 60 minutes. Please don’t worry because your group’s safety is paramount to us. Each escape room is fitted with safety equipment such as fire extinguishers, and there are exits which will automatically open in an emergency. If you urgently need to leave the room for any reason, just let the game master know and they can open the door.
As long as you follow all instructions given by staff, staying safe at Omescape is easy. If you do plan on bringing young children along, it’s a good idea to check the content of the escape game you intend to book to check it is suitable and they won’t be frightened.
