Safety Tips in Escape Rooms
Your escape room experience is all about fun and team bonding, and we know you’ll have a wonderful time solving complex puzzles against a time pressure! Escape rooms are designed to make you work as a team, with puzzles and conundrums designed to use each different member of the team’s knowledge, experience and skills.
From the moment you enter the room, you’ll be thrown into an intriguing and complex plotline, and it’ll be your job to solve the clues and find the method to escape!
However, an important aspect of an escape room experience, is also staying and remaining safe during your time. Safety is really important to us, and to you – and so we’ve put together some key tips to ensuring your escape room experience is as safe as possible.
Tip 1: Supervise children
If you’re completing your escape room with children or teenagers, it’s a good idea to make sure they’re supervised during the escape room. We know kids don’t like to feel like they’re being ‘supervised’ but an escape room can be exciting and we’ve known people (especially children) to get swept up in the excitement of everything. Because of this, it’s a good idea to make sure you’ve kept an eye on them, even if you don’t make it too obvious!
Tip 2: Do not be under the influence of drugs or alcohol
This one is pretty obvious. Under the influence it’s easy to forget the rules, or get carried away, and it’s important for safety to ensure that rules are always followed. Plus we want you to enjoy your experience properly, and we know you don’t need to be under the influence to enjoy our escape rooms!
Tip 3: Trust the game master
Your game master is the key to your enjoyment. Trust whatever they say, and follow any instructions given to you. Your game master is there to ensure you not only have a great time, but that you’re safe too – so they always have your best interests in mind.
Tip 4: Listen to your team members
Part of the escape room experience is listening to team mates and making sure everyone is getting to put forward their ideas. Another reason it’s important to listen to your teammates, is to ensure everyone is feeling comfortable and confident in the escape room too. Sometimes people may get a bit anxious in an escape room, and whilst there’s no reason to be – for safety reasons – it’s good to keep an eye on friends and family and let everyone have fun.
Tip 5: Don’t run in the room
Escape rooms aren’t tiny, but they’re certainly not places to run around. An escape room is somewhere to exercise your mind, not your legs! Take care getting around the room, after all, you might move a clue my accident and make it harder to solve the puzzle!
Tip 6: Don’t damage the room
Every escape room is specially designed to suit a specific plotline / clues are strategically placed and hidden, and so everything has its own place. You shouldn’t need to damage or break anything in the room to find clues – it’s key to remember this. Because of this, you won’t need to move anything too much, or damage the room in any way. Damaging the room could not only put you in danger, but it might hinder your enjoyment of the game too.
Tip 7: Don’t panic
Some people might be prone to feeling panic or anxiety as the clock ticks down in their escape room experience. We want you to feel excited, but we don’t ever want you to feel panicked or anxious. You should know, you can always leave the room at any time, so if you feel a little on-edge, you can always ask to leave.
Tip 8: Wear comfy clothes
Wear comfortable clothes for your escape room experience, it’ll help you enjoy the experience more, and it’ll also be safer too!
Tip 9: Wear sensible shoes
For footwear and shoes, it’s a good idea to wear comfortable flat shoes. These will give you flexibility to move around easily and swiftly to find clues, and it’ll hopefully stop you tripping up too! The last thing you want is to be tripping over at a critical time in the game, for example!
