A Day in the Life of a Game Operator
Escape rooms have become hugely popular in recent years – and, for people who have tried them, that won’t come as a big surprise. After all, being in an escape room with your friends, trying to solve fiendishly tricky puzzles in what looks like a whole new vivid and imaginative world, can make you feel like the star of your own thrilling adventure or horror film.
Fortunately, however, even during the more testing moments of your escape room experience here at Omescape London, you will still be able to turn to the game master. If you have wondered what the whole experience feels like for us, well, wonder no longer…
We Are There with you Right From the Start
The concept of an escape room might remind you of The Crystal Maze, the game show that was a hit in the 1990s and where contestants had to take on successive challenges in order to escape the mazes. At Omescape, you can get your very own Richard O’Brien, so to say, in the form of a “game master”.
They will greet you upon your arrival and explain what your chosen game is about and, importantly, how to play it. There are six games to choose from at our London location, including two virtual reality experiences – your game master will tell you what you need to know before you begin. Then, we will lock you in the room and give you 60 minutes to forge your exit path…
Don’t Worry, We can Still Help if you get Stuck
The game operator will also accompany you as you play. As the minimum number of players per game at Omescape is three, there will be a lot of heads for you to pick should your progress stall. However, we will still be on hand to provide a hint when all of you remain at a loss with the clock ticking away.
Naturally, we can only give you a limited number of hints per game; after all, we don’t want to entirely take away the enjoyable challenge of playing! Besides, watching players trying to solve the puzzles is a lot of fun for us, too. There have been plenty of occasions when players were tantalisingly close to making a breakthrough, and as a game operator we have struggled to maintain our poker faces.
Our Responsibilities Depend on the Game you Play
The variety is definitely a big part of the fun of being an escape room game operator. Whether we’re designing the kind of puzzles that would make the Riddler proud or springing surprises on you with high-end technology – especially in the VR escape rooms – we are always happy to make you happy.
There’s a lot that we can do in our space – that spans a mammoth 3,400 square feet – and you can book your escape today to find out more about the exciting possibilities.
