Why you Need to Experience Team Based VR
Entertainment has gone up to a whole new level with the use of virtual reality, and group entertainment has never been more immersive and more fun. You might have tried traditional escape rooms, but a VR escape room takes the excitement to another level – allowing your group to experience a new technology together.
Way before the shrinking of display technologies that could support VR headsets, virtual reality rooms were needed to deliver a 360 degrees visual experience – and even though independent VR games are great, there’s still nothing to top the experience in a group setting.
So What is Team Based VR?
As of today, most current VR experiences are designed for a single player, which is usually for about two to ten minutes. Most of the time, you wear a headset, and you’ll be limited to trying it out at home, or wherever you’ve set up your console.
Team-based virtual reality offers an exceptional alternative you can participate in as a team, for around 45 minutes to an hour. Usually, the experience will be structured around a ‘group mission’ or a plot line – which you’ll need to follow and solve. It most definitely beats anything you’ve ever experienced before – the thrill of immersion, freedom, adrenaline, the ultimate adventure!
The experience is truly an incredible, exciting and mind-blowing adventure for every kind of group, family, friends or colleagues as you all interconnect, work and think together in a totally realistic virtual universe. Studios are getting really creative too with their VR group experiences – constantly evolving plot lines and visuals to take the experience to the next level.
How Does Team Based VR Work?
Team-based VR games are designed in several ways, and it will depend what studio you go to and which company is providing the technology. Most games are usually played standing up, where everyone gets to participate in the game by moving around, searching for things, solving puzzles, finding clues, manipulating objects and join forces with fellow team members.
At Omescape we have wireless equipment, meaning you’re totally free to move about the space. This added freedom gives you even more realism and makes the VR experience even more convincing and immersive. In our VR escape rooms, you’ll wear your equipment as a backpack, which also feeds into the plot line of the escape room – so it all fits together.
You’ll find yourself bonding as a group as you discover how the technology works, and how to solve and move through the environment. This makes it particularly good for work colleagues who want a fun and unique team building experience, or a group of friends who want to book in some quality time.
We have two VR escape rooms at Omescape. The first is called ‘Huxley’ which is an ‘end of the world’ plot line, where your group have to solve puzzles and mysteries in order to save humanity. It’s a free-roaming game (made possible by our wireless headsets) and it’s 44 minutes long. You can watch a ‘trailer’ of the game on our website, if you fancy giving this one a try
The second VR game we currently offer is called ‘Mind Horror’ – and this game is a little more scary, with a plot line based around common horror themes. Your group will need to work through mysteries and clues to find out where an abducted child has been hidden, whilst also avoiding the tricks of the serial killer that hid them.
Sounds exciting, right? If you’re up for the challenge, assemble your team now and join the adventure and get in touch to book your VR group experience.
Who Can Play?
At Omescape our games can accommodate from 2 – 8 players, so it’s perfect for many sizes of groups. The experience itself is ideal for all sorts of parties and events, corporate events, birthdays, fun hangouts, team building events, school events and more. Many people are surprised by how easy the VR experience is, and (don’t worry!) we give everyone thorough instruction before starting.
The fully immersive virtual experience provided by Omescape is carefully designed by video game developers to guarantee an extended, entertaining experience and (most importantly) an experience everyone will enjoy. It’s a totally unique and memorable experience, and one that most of your group will never have experienced before.
Why is Team-based VR Good for Groups?
The collaborative element of VR will easily be the most fun a group of people can have in the city. Working together for a common goal, and going-through the plot line as a group is entertaining but also great for improving relationships and communication too. Collaborative virtual reality is an ideal team building exercise, as the victory in the virtual room depends on teamwork, not competition.
The experience is new, challenging and exciting – and when you can discover something like that together as a group – it’s always a great bonding exercise.
The team VR experience is more than games and escape rooms, it is like actually being with your friends in a video game, like a real Jumanji experience. It will certainly excite you and your inner adventurer.
